A week from today I’ll be packing up my bike and heading out of town for my first duathlon (run-bike-run), and I’m freakin’ nervous.
But before I tell you why, I have to explain something. There are two types of athletic events out there, and they’re very different.
The first kind we’ll call the Party Races. In these races, the main objective is to cross the finish line and have fun doing it. You’ll probably get a medal just for finishing. There will be people cheering for you along the way and probably a crowd of people screaming your name (or at least your bib number) at the finish line. You might even get some awesome snacks or enticing giveaways.
